WARMUP:
Topic: Subject-Verb Agreement
Rule: A compound subject, which is two or more subjects that have the same verb, may be singular or plural.
•Subjects joined by and usually take a plural verb
•Singular subjects joined by or or nor take a singular verb.
•When a singular subject and a plural subject are joined by or or nor, the verb agrees with the subject nearer the verb.
Write the following sentences. Label the subject and verb. Select the correct verb.
1.Hemingway, Steinbeck, and Morrison is / are Nobel Prize winners.
2.Neither the rain nor the wind has / have stopped.
3.Neither the performers nor the director was / were eager to rehearse.
